What is NVO2?

NVO2 is by far the largest professional association in the Netherlands in the area of human resource development.
The association, which was founded in 1972, has continued to grow steadily and now has about 2200 members and a professionally equipped office at its disposal in Driebergen. The main objectives of the association are the professional development of its members and the broadening of the professional field in the Netherlands, Europe and even worldwide. The members come from all sectors of society, including industry, the healthcare sector, (semi-)governmental authorities and education. The association functions as a structured network for its members who make frequent use of it in an open atmosphere. In addition, NVO2 organizes numerous activities such as workshops, study groups and international meetings. In the Netherlands, NVO2 has a leading position. Close contacts are maintained with other professional associations and interest groups as well as with organisations which operate in training and related fields. Regular consultation also takes place with (semi-)governmental and educational authorities. NVO2 also has a large international network. A few years ago, the board of NVO2 formulated some spearheads of the association policy, these being as follows: professional development of its members and of the professional field of HRD, social commitment/ engagement and working on the development of the HRD working field in an international perspective. Organising the International HRD Conference 2006 gives shape to this last-mentioned spearhead.
